Linda Alanen has been doing professional bodywork since 1995. She has offered Thai Yoga Massage-ERAWAN (Walking Thai) since 1998. Linda is a student member of both the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International® and the Upledger Institute.
She offers various modalities for her clients’ benefits and takes great joy in tailoring each session for each client based on what the client would like to address, if anything specific, during that appointment. Therefore, no two sessions need be the same.
Massage Modalities Offered:
Integrated Massage - using techniques from any or all of the modalities studied which may address the client’s needs, including (for example) Swedish, myofascial release, and gua sha.
Repetitive Use Injury Therapy® - using Muscle Release Technique™, use of specific positionings and strokes for 2 second holds, reminding muscles of their former length, always staying within the pleasure zone and avoiding pain so that the body does not have to protect itself. Proper breathing facilitates the work.

Erawan (Walking Thai) Yoga Massage - studied in Chicago with Open Secrets, is an ancient form of massage practiced for over 2500 years in Thailand. It is considered as essential to maintainence of health as good nutrition and exercise and is holistic in its approach, facilitating healing and restoring balance to mind, body and spirit. It features hundreds of moves and a variety of techniques, making each session unique. It has often been referred to as ‘the lazy person’s yoga’ since the client’s body is taken through passive yoga stretches as part of the massage. The client is fully clothed in loose comfortable clothing. While lying on a futon, the sen (energy) lines are worked, with gentle rocking, rhythmic compressions and deep stretches by the therapist’s palms, thumbs, elbows, forearms and/or feet. The result is an opening of the body, which leaves both client and therapist feeling relaxed and energized at the same time. Three passes are made around the client’s body with the first pass being the lightest and more pressure added the subsequent passes as the client’s body assimilates and integrates the work. The client is in face up, face down and side--lying positions. It is an especially good massage for those with thick body types or who are very muscular. The length of time for the session determines the amount of work that can be done. An hour and a half is recommended for receiving some work in all the positions.
